Partner Spotlight – Maurice Blackburn Lawyers

By Maurice Blackburn

Maurice Blackburn is proud to again partner with Melbourne Writers Festival in 2023. A highlight on literary calendars the world over, the Festival brings life into the heart of Melbourne and connects audiences to vital voices and meaningful conversations.

Maurice Blackburn is thrilled to be supporting one such conversation featuring acclaimed journalist Stan Grant.

Stan Grant will join Anne Pattel-Gray to discuss his timely new book, The Queen is Dead, on Australia’s place in the monarchy, the path to becoming a republic through the Voice to Parliament and beyond, and the necessity of a just settlement with First Nations people.

This is a pivotal year in Australia’s history as we look to update our Constitution with a referendum vote.

In 1919, our founder Maurice Blackburn started the law firm because he felt everyone deserved access to justice, not just those who could afford it. And over 100 years later, his legacy remains at the core of all we do as Australia’s #1 plaintiff law firm. We have helped influence some of Australia’s most important legal decisions including the 40-hour working week, equal pay and award conditions for women and First Nations workers, and more recently secured Australia’s largest ever class actions settlement. Our work continues to bring respect, dignity and support to those who would otherwise be left behind.

This is why we’re voting ‘Yes’ and proudly supporting the Voice to Parliament campaign. This vote aligns with our mission and founder’s legacy in continuing to provide access to justice, holding the powerful to account, and giving a voice to the voiceless.

We’re looking forward to seeing Melbourne Writers Festival come to life in May. And hope you’ll join us at Stan Grant: The Queen is Dead.
